I am super excited. Next month I am signed up to have a booth at a Fall Craft Shopping Fest to benefit the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition. So, not only is it my first show, but it’s also for a great cause. I’ll be donating a basket of goods from The Angel Company for silent auction as well as some of the proceeds from my sales. I really hope there is a good turnout and that I get some business. I’ve been looking for a way to launch my TAC business since I moved, but haven’t really had the time to put anything together. Now, I have a date, as well as a deadline to get everything ready!
Saturday night after everyone went to bed, I decided to head down to my craft room to get things started. I completely tore apart my old display board, as most of the stamps used on the sample cards are retired. I decided to completely redesign my board, not just filling it with card samples, but with info about our products and what sets us apart from some of the competition. There will be other stamping and scrapbooking companies at this event, so I need a way to stand out. So, I printed up some info sheets and mounted them on my board along with printouts of the specials for August (that I know of so far). I then added a couple scrapbook pages, one which was already finished and one I made that night. Then I flipped through my catalogue, found a couple card designs I liked and used them as inspiration to make a few samples. The creative juices were flowing. Before I knew it, it was 1am and I needed to get some sleep! Problem was, my brain was so wired I ended up laying in bed awake until 3am. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done anything like this, I think my brain got over-excited about being used and didn’t want to shut down for the night!
Yesterday I headed back down to the craft room for a bit in the afternoon. I added a couple more little touches to my display board and started working on making some cards. I figured I’ll put a few things in a basket to sell. That’s one of the nice things about TAC. All the stamps are “angels” which means you can sell anything you make with them without having to get permission from the company or put a copyright stamp on your crafts. So, I made a few greeting cards and Christmas cards. Got lots more to make, but it felt good to do some more designing. I also looked through my stamp sets and picked out a few retired sets to sell that I really haven’t used. Once upon a time I thought they were cute, but in several years of owning them, I haven’t found use for them. Maybe someone else will.
I have about a month to finish getting ready. Hopefully in that time, I can get a bunch of cards and maybe some crafts made, and also figure out a kick-ass display for my booth. I really hope this goes well. Not sure I could handle the disappointment after all the energy I’m putting into this…
