I’m happily married to my college sweetheart and together we have three amazing kids. Our daughter is five years old and our fraternal twin boys are three. I’m mostly a stay-at-home mom, but I do work part-time teaching preschool swim and gym classes at the YMCA. I also have a home-based rubber stamping and scrapbooking business as an independent demonstrator for The Angel Company, though I don’t do much with that these days. I recently began playing with the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra and it feels great to be playing my viola with a great group again. I also belong to my local Mothers of Multiples group and do the newsletter for that. I definitely have a lot to keep me busy!
I’m a crafter at heart. I’ve dabbled in a lot of different things, but mainly I like papercrafting and quilting. I usually try to make my own greeting cards when one is needed and I’ve recently started scrapbooking. Quilting I learned from my mother-in-law. She is an avid quilter and I am always in awe of her work. Whenever our family gathers, I have to see her latest project. So far I only make wall hanging quilts, so they’re small and relatively easy to finish. Someday when I have more time and experience I hope to make bed-size quilts.
I have a degree in Microbiology and worked in the biotech industry for about nine years. Having kids has put my career on hold a bit, but my boss was kind enough to offer me a work from home position after having the twins. I wasn’t able to play with DNA in a lab anymore, but I still got to help out with projects and paperwork. That opportunity has passed, but I do hope to return to the world of science when all of my kids are in school.
I love the outdoors. Hiking and camping are some of my favorite things to do, and once the boys are old enough, I hope to do a bit of both again. For now, we try to get up north with my husband’s family where we can borrow a cabin for a couple days and enjoy the nightly campfires. I did a little rock climbing in college and would like to take it up again. No mountains for me, but some bouldering and small cliff climbing would be fun.
I’m working hard on getting in shape and hope that by this summer I’ll be the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’m lifting weights and using the elliptical at home. I’m also doing Zumba 1-2 times/week at the Y. Already my muscles and lungs are stronger and it feels great!
Blogging is a new adventure for me. I need to exercise my brain. And I think it would be good to jot down some of the funny/crazy things that happen in my life for memory’s sake. So, here goes… Hope you enjoy the ride… however long it lasts.
