Things I don’t want to forget

Seems like time is flying by lately and the twins are growing and changing so fast, that its easy to forget all those cute little things they do as they move from one stage to the next.  I thought it would be a good idea to just jot down a few things they are doing right now.

1.  Josh is my lover boy.  At the table during meals, he’ll say “Mama” to get my attention and then make a kissy face.  When I clean him up, he’ll grab my arm and kiss it.  And sometimes he’ll climb up on me just to give me a hug.  He really is a sweetie and I can definitely see him breaking a few hearts in the future.

2.  Sam is still the talker.  He tries to repeat anything you ask him to say.  Emily and I both got him to count to ten the other day.  He’s also trying to put a lot of two-word phrases together and there’s usually a pause in the middle, which is so cute.  It just shows how hard that little brain is working.

3.  The boys really love their books right now.  They sometimes request the same book over and over.  They’re even getting choosy, saying “no” or “uh-uh” as I list off book titles when picking out their bedtime story, until I get to one they want to hear.  Everytime I read Goodnight Moon, Josh says “hello” when I say “telephone”.  They get really excited about the bear sneeze in Bear Snores On (my favorite to read).  They always repeat the word “cheese” and say “na-night” when I read I Love You, Goodnight.  I love when they snuggle up with me in the living room for a story.  It’s a nice replacement for missing those days of snuggling warm newborns.

4.  Their pronunciation of words cracks me up.  My favorite is the way Sam says “uncle”.  It sounds like “Oh-toh” and he always uses a funny voice to make it sound low and rough.  Josh has a new one that I love as well.  When we pass the farm near our house he always yells out “Hee-Hee!” when he sees the horses.  They both call Emily, “Emmy”, which will probably be her name to them for a very long time.  We’ve used it as a nickname as well.  Neither of them can make the hard “c” or “s” sounds yet, so no “c” words yet, like “car” and neither can say Sam’s name.  They both call each other “Doshy”. They call grandpa, “bupbah”, and grandma is “bamma”.  It’s really funny when they get confused and use the wrong title.

5.  When the twins are giggling together, or when there is total quiet, there is trouble.  I absolutely love the sound of them giggling and I hate to end it because it doesn’t happen often between the two of them on their own.  But whenever it happens, it’s because they’re getting into mischief!  Just the other day, the cause of incessant giggling was dipping a found dryer sheet in my glass of water I’d forgotten in the living room, and then whipping the wet dryer sheet around in the air, sprinkling water all over the room.  Must’ve been a lot of fun, because they were laughing like crazy.

6.  They love their big sister.  There are times, of course, when she doesn’t want them around, or they get angry with her.  But, when they actually play together, it is blissful.  Those boys would follow Emily to the moon.  They just think she is the best.  They get excited when we go pick her up from preschool.  After a couple days of getting used to the routine, Josh stared clapping and saying, “Yay, Emmy!” as we’d pull into the parking lot.  When she’s swimming in the pool at the Y, they stand by the glass windows, yelling her name (and entertaining the other parents in the lobby).  They always have to say “na-night” or “buh-bye” to her at naptime.  I really hope that my kids grow up to be close to each other.

7.  Sam has this adorable sing-songy way of saying “buh-bye”.  It melts my heart every time.

8.  Josh has been singing.  Sometimes it’s just “la, la, la”, but lately he’s been singing the tune from his Little People School Bus, which is the same tune as “This Old Man/Knick-Knack”.

The boys are tons of fun.  I was so scared when I found out I was having twins and now I wonder, what the heck was I afraid of?  I couldn’t imagine it any other way.  They are truly two bundles of joy with their own unique little personalities.  I can’t believe they are about to turn 2 in just over a month.  They really do grow too fast.  Pretty soon we’ll be on to speaking in phrases and potty training!  I look forward to all the changes ahead, but there are definitely days when I wish they could stay little just a bit longer.

CVS deals of the day

Due to the craziness of this week, I didn’t make it to CVS on Monday like I’ve been doing.  I made it there today though!  Last week, the magic coupon machine gave me a free $25 gift card with new or transferred prescription.  So, after my dr. appointment on Tuesday, I got the gift card!  So, all of my purchases today were FREE!!  Gotta love that!  Here’s what I did:

Bought Always Infinity for 4.98, used $2 ECB’s, paid 2.98 (+tax) on gift card, got 4.98 ECB’s

Bought Bic Soliel Razor for 5.99-2.00MC, 2 Speed Stick for 3.98-0.50MC, used 4.98 ECB’s, paid 2.49 (+tax) on gift card, earned 6.00 ECB’s.

Bought 2 Mega packs of Playskool Diapers at 10.99 each-$4off$20 Playskool coupon, Bic Soleil blades for 5.99-2.00MC, Colgate MaxFresh for 2.99-1.00MC, used $5off$30 coupon, used 6.00 ECB’s, paid 12.96 (+tax) on gift card, earned 6.00 ECB’s.

I still have over $5 left on the gift card and have $6 in extra bucks, so I’d say that’s pretty good.  Especially considering that if I had paid just the sale prices for everything, the total would be over $45.  I spent less than $20 off my gift card.  Making deals and paying for it with a free gift card feels oh so good!  Can’t wait to see what’s in store for next week!  Well, I could sneak a peek at  🙂

Busy times

I have definitely been missing from the blogosphere lately, not that I’m very regular with my posting, but life has gotten pretty hectic lately, so here’s the run down of my weekly schedule…

Monday: Drop off Emily at preschool at 9:00, stop and make CVS deals for the week, go home to do dishes/laundry, pick up Emily at preschool at 11:30, make lunch, put boys to bed at 1:00ish, go to the computer and work 2-3 hrs. if work is available, maybe fit in some more chores, get the boys up from their nap, make dinner, try to watch Heroes, put kids to bed, try to spend some time with hubby before we both pass out from exhaustion

Tuesday:  Get myself and the kids to YMCA by 9:00, teach KinderDance at 9:15, go home to do chores, make lunch, put boys to bed at 1:00ish, go to the computer and work 2-3 hrs. if work is available, maybe fit in some more chores, get the boys up from their nap, feed kids a snack, get back to YMCA by 5:10, teach KinderSports and KinderGym, get home around 7:30, scramble to make a late dinner, get kids bathed and in bed, try to spend some time with hubby before we both pass out from exhaustion

Wednesday:  Drop off Emily at preschool at 9:00, run an errand if needed, go home to do dishes/laundry, pick up Emily at preschool at 11:30, make lunch, put boys to bed at 1:00ish, go to the computer and work 2-3 hrs. if work is available, maybe fit in some more chores, get the boys up from their nap, make dinner, hang out with the family in the living room, put kids to bed, try to spend some time with hubby before we both pass out from exhaustion

Thursday: Take Emily to swim class at 9:50 and keep the boys entertained in the YMCA lobby, go home to do dishes, make lunch, etc. (see above)

Friday:  See Weds.

Saturday:  Get ready before kids wake up, change/feed kids, head to YMCA at 9:30 to teach KinderGymnastics and KinderSwim classes, get home around 12:30-12:45.  Finally time to start the weekend, which is usually jam packed with activities and/or house/yard projects.

Sunday:  In addition to whatever activities are in store for the day, pick up newspapers and clip coupons, review the CVS flyer for the week and plan deals for Monday’s shopping.

So, as you can see, not much time left for sitting at the computer, alone with my thoughts.  I started writing this post a week ago.  I only have time to finish it now because my hubby is stuck at work doing network/equipment upgrades tonight, and the kids are in bed.  This week was particularly busy with a few tidbits added in, like a dr. appointment, my parent helper day at preschool, and some extra errands.  The fun never ends!  I guess there is a reason why I’ve been so tired lately…

CVS rocks!

Just a quick note to let you know that CVS has more than redeemed itself since that one bad night of deal making.  I’ve been getting lots of great deals and I did get a price adjustment for that overcharged item.  I also now have a favorite cashier, as I’ve started making my trips to CVS on Monday mornings after I drop off Em at preschool.  She’s always there, recognizes me now, especially since I come in with the boys in the double stroller.  She always cheers me on as she rings up all my coupons and ECB’s and earn more ECB’s for my next trip.  Then she fawns over the boys and tells them what a smart shopper their mom is.  🙂  Just an extra added bonus that makes it even more fun!  If you haven’t heard, CVS has a great deal this week to get a discount on the IronMan DVD.  My hubby really wanted this one, so I bought Always at 2/$6, Secret at 2/$5, Old Spice deodorant at 2/$5, and Pantene shampoo and conditioner for $3.33 each.  I had coupons for every single item, so I ended up spending quite a bit less than the required $20 purchase to get my $10 off the DVD.  That was a fun deal to make!  And now my hubby will be happy to come home and watch his new movie tonight!
